Meet Shane

As a native to Boulder, Colorado, I have been rock climbing for 11 years and working with children of all ages for 14 years at various camps and programs throughout the Boulder area! As a young boy with ADHD and so much energy, I found that it was extremely difficult for me to focus well on academics and have “good” behavior for the majority of the time. From grade school to high school, this was certainly a great challenge for me! I discovered rock climbing during my senior year of high school and immediately developed a love and passion for the sport. I’ve come to realize how much climbing has supported me in developing focus and my ability to stay on track, thanks to the physical and mental focus that it demands.

I believe that my gift of working with children as well as my understanding of them stems from how my brain works, my personality type, my childhood experiences, and how much youthful energy I have! After a handful of years of climbing and analyzing my experience in school, I realized how I can be of service to children and families in the community! I see a demand for a physical outlet for children with high energy who may have a challenging time sitting still and being quiet in a classroom for the majority of the day. I believe children can thrive through rock climbing, nature, and activities with someone who truly understands how their minds work. With me, they’ll get their energy out, have their development supported, and be able to improve their focus and mind/body connection!
